Tragic Walmart mass shooting takes 6 lives in Chesapeake, VA - TyTek praises quick first response

What should have been a normal evening last Tuesday, with customers in Walmart doing their thanksgiving shopping, turned tragic when an employee shockingly opened fire. The horrific turn of events started around 10:12pm and resulted in 6 lives lost, all who were Walmart employees as well as the shooter taking his own life. The shooter had been identified as Andre Bing, a 31-year-old who had been employed by Walmart since 2010 and was an “overnight team lead”.

The incident occurred less than an hour before the store was due to close, with at least 50 people inside. The authorities are currently looking into the shooter's background and looking for any information which could have contributed to his motive for the attack. The 6 lives lost have been identified which you can see in depth here. According to CNN, the first officer on scene arrived within 2 minutes, with multiple other officers arriving around 10:16pm. John Furner, Walmart US’ president and CEO, said the mass shooting in Chesapeake was exceptionally tragic because the assailant was an employee. 

“We feel tragedies like this personally and deeply. But this one is especially painful as we have learned the gunman was a Walmart associate,” Furner said in a statement. “The entire Walmart family is heartbroken. Our hearts and prayers are with those impacted, and we are grateful for the actions of first responders.” - CNN

We believe in highlighting the importance of medical supply access in public places

According to the Gun Violence Archive, the US has had more than 600 mass shootings in 2022 (the GVA considers a mass shooting as more than 4 people) It marks another shooting in a public place which is supposed to be considered safe, such as schools and hospitals.
