Tyson Fury’s puts out emotional plea to end knife crime after his cousins tragic death, TyTek Medical send our support and condolences

Another senseless knife attack occurred in Manchester, U.K. on Sunday morning which saw the loss of 31-year-old Rico Burton, the cousin of world champion boxer Tyson Fury. What was supposed to be a night of entertainment following the heavyweight boxing match of Joshua vs. Usuk resulted in serious injuries and loss which was described as a ‘spontaneous' and 'unplanned' attack by Greater Manchester Police. Mr Burton had been watching the fight with friends when he reportedly stepped outside and unfortunately violence broke out. Mr Burton was said to have been not involved in the altercation but simply trying to calm things down, when he was brutally and suddenly stabbed.

Another 17-year-old was also found with stab wounds, and both victims received first aid from the public before the ambulance services arrived. Both were taken to hospital but Mr Burton tragically lost his life whilst the teenage boy is in a non-life threatening condition. Whilst nobody should have to be witness to such attacks, unfortunately they are continuing to take place in the U.K. and they highlight the importance of bystanders providing first aid prior to the ambulance services arriving.

Tyson Fury shared on his social media his tribute to his cousin

Whilst making an important plea to the government to take action against such knife crimes:

‘This needs to stop. ASAP, the UK government needs to bring higher sentencing for knife crime, it's a pandemic and you don't know how bad it is until it's one of your own!

'Life is very precious and it can be taken away very quick, enjoy every moment. RIP RICO BURTON.  May the lord god grant you a good place in heaven. See you soon.'

Two men aged 20 and 21 have been arrested in connection and remain in police custody. A No 10 spokeswoman said: 'Firstly, the Prime Minister's thoughts are with the family. No family should ever have to go through the unimaginable grief that Tyson Fury's family are suffering.

'That is why we are determined to make our streets safer. It is why this Government is boosting police ranks to get more officers out on our streets. And we're giving them the powers they need to get more knives off our streets.

'That includes greater powers of stop and search and new court orders to target known knife carriers and allow the courts to intervene earlier and place conditions like curfews on them.

'Since 2019 we've removed over 72,000 knives through stop and search and our surrender programmes.'

But there was 'more to do' to 'spare families from the misery it (knife crime) causes.’ - Daily Mail

We are sending our deepest condolences to both victim’s families and friends

We are with Tyson Fury and the public when it comes to ending knife crime, we see too many of these stories resulting in valuable lives lost senselessly. Whilst we can only continue to hope that the government and authorities are tackling the situation, there are things we can support at TyTek Medical when it comes to saving lives.

You never know when you’re going to witness such events and it’s bystanders who are considered as the ‘zero responders’. These responders are there before the first responders which include the ambulance services, so it’s vital that whoever is there first is able to undertake basic first aid such as controlling a severe bleed. In the aftermath of another tragic event, we have set up a workshop for those zero responders to gain knowledge on how to save a life in case a traumatic bleed occurs. This event is currently full, however if you’re interested in finding out about future events take a look here.

We are extremely passionate about supporting the public with understanding basic first aid as well as advocating for better medical supplies. We believe that bleeding control stations should be available in many public spaces such as bars and clubs, to be a point-of-injury supply in aid of saving lives.

If you’re interested in our message and supplies, please get in touch with us and we’d be more than happy to support with any enquiries.
